Celebrating the dedication of Bruton Dorm on November 6 and the 57th graduation class of the Arusha Bible College was a day of VICTORY!
All of Heaven joined the shouts and praises when the dedication prayer was given by Bishop Barnabas Mtokambali, of the Tanzanian Assemblies of God.
Wonderful partners, Rex & Gayle Henegar, William & Adell Geter and Mike & Katie Bruton and granddaughter, Jayna contributed to making a great event for God’s glory.
Because of you, our African Moons partners, we packed 18 suitcases, each with fifty pounds of school supplies, sports equipment, volleyball nets, clothes, toys, sundries and 26 window coverings for the dormitory. That’s over 700 pounds of luggage folks! We shared these with government and private schools and the Shalom Center Orphanage.
Our hearts were stolen by the children of the Shalom Center Orphanage. Over fifty children patiently waited for us to arrive. The silence erupted into laughter and joy as the team began to move among them with paintbrushes to face paint each one with signs of love.
Eager eyes searched ours as we carefully painted hearts and smiley faces in red, yellow and green. The language of love is the same all over the world. Each child received a pretty bag with a toothbrush, to
oth paste, stuffed animal and some candy. Children of the world all respond to soft and cuddly stuffed animals.
Through our generous partners, African Moons was able to give substantially to fund Shalom Center for the rest of 2015, ensuring these children continue to receive loving care and security. Also, Pastor Mike Bruton and the folks of Northeast Assembly in Fresno, presented a generous gift to Shalom Center during our visit. Director Golden Mgonzo has been working diligently among local business leaders to raise awareness for this work that provides shelter, education, food and hope for the street children of Arusha. The need for 2016 is critical.
The Shalom Center and the Arusha Bible College are two projects that need your help. As you think about year-end gifts, please pray about making a special year end contribution. The minimum budget for Shalom Center is $3000.00 a month. We want to do as much as we can to help.
At the college is a small dorm with seven rooms. The issue is that the toilet and shower areas need to be completely renovated. The showers have only cold water, the toilets no longer function. The plan is to tear out the old and replace everything so that this dorm can continue to house students. The cost is approximately $15k.
With the increase of terrorist attacks, some have asked if we are afraid to continue this work. The answer is emphatically NO! A few months ago two different partners told us they had been warned in dreams that we needed to be cautious. We put this in our hearts and didn’t think much about it until a few days later during Joel’s devotional reading God spoke with this direct Word. “Don’t be afraid! Speak out! Don’t quit! For I am with you and no one can harm you.” Acts 18:9-10 TLB
We are more dedicated than ever to the work God has opened to us to do in Tanzania.
Tanzania for Jesus!
