In 2017, when we planned the Golf Tournament, which benefits the Shalom Center, we decided we wanted to do more to help the kids at Shalom. That is when the idea of “Christmas in a Box” was birthed. This is the second year that each child at the orphanage will receive a personalized shoe box filled with “Goodies” just for them. And as many of you know that thought has exploded into one of the most exciting projects we have done to date!
As you read this I am in Arusha! The excitement has been building for the last few months for this trip. Last year’s Christmas in a Box was incredible and we know it is going to be even greater. You have expressed immeasurable love to the children of Shalom and the Special Needs children in the Tanzanian Government schools.
Many of you have expressed the joy you felt to be a part of “Christmas” for the children. One of our faithful Golfers, Leland shared, “I believe in and support the work they do with the proceeds. Not only are the golf course, prizes and amenities outstanding, the updates given on the impact of the previous year’s tournament proceeds is a bonus I wouldn’t miss.”
Consalva, pictured to the left, is a staff member of Shalom. This is what she said in a recent email about our upcoming visit.
“God bless you for all the efforts and hard work that you are doing for the children. We are also excited for your visit here! I would like to present greetings from the kids who have received their school fees, thank you so very much! God will pay you for sure. You don’t know how helpful it was for every one here! You have touched their lives and we know for sure they will touch others in their community and beyond.
As a result of your giving for this project, the children will receive school clothing, personal hygiene supplies, underwear, socks, toys, crayons, colored pencils and Adidas athletic outfits! They are going to be blown away! I can’t wait to share with you the pictures.
AND! Even though we have not been focused on the Phase Two Dormitory, many of you have been asking how the fund raising has been going. Well, during this focus on the children, special gifts for the second dormitory for the Arusha Bible College have been coming in.
The goal is to reach $200k of the $350k so that we can begin construction right after the first of the year. We are near to $60k right now. We know that there are friends who are planning to give a special year-end gift towards this goal. If you can join those friends, we believe that we will have the funds to break ground and our Project Manager, William Geter Jr. will get this project underway.
To each of you who stand with us monthly and pray daily for us, we are humbled and blessed through your partnership. None of these incredible moments are possible unless God moves on His people. You, our partners, are constantly expressing HIS LOVE! We are so grateful and love you. Thank you for believing in us and wanting to be a part of this vision that began in the hearts of Paul and Helen Bruton many years ago. What a privilege God has bestowed on all of us!
Also, as we enter the Holiday season, if you use Amazon for your shopping. Consider using Amazon Smile and select African Moons as your designated charity. A portion of the money spent will be donated to African Moons! It all helps!
And remember as you plan for year-end giving, your designated gift for the Phase Two Dormitory will help get construction started ASAP!
We are excited to share more with you as we all experience God’s Blessings!
Tanzania for Jesus!
