WHAT REALLY MATTERS?
While sitting in his prison cell, serving a two-year sentence, Paul continued to be a river of life.
He wrote to encourage the Philippian believers,
…one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3: 13-14
WHAT REALLY MATTERS? KNOWING CHRIST!
Eleven years ago, before Mom Bruton passed away, I visited with her at the nursing home. She sat with her Bible on her lap and told me in soft, reverent words that her heart’s desire was to know HIM. She had a long journey with countless moments of trust and faith. She never wavered from her goal of reaching the prize of God’s calling on her life. She lived through the valleys and mountain tops – always looking to her heavenly Father. She was a great model of faith for our entire family.
Today as we walk out our journey, we continue to press on toward the goal of knowing Him. Along this journey, we have assignments straight from our Heavenly Father. On our hearts are the men and women of the Arusha Bible College, the children of Shalom Center Orphanage and the children of the Government schools. Each one of them have an assignment. They may not know it just yet but they are on their journey. And in order to help them find their way, we continue to press toward fulfilling the vision God has placed in our hearts.
Phase Two Dormitory…it will sleep 240 students. It will provide the facilities allowing the college to increase enrollment. This will result in graduating “Mighty Warriors” speaking words of life to lost and searching souls. Your prayers and giving will cause this to happen.
Shalom Center Orphanage…these precious children receive the love and care from the staff. In addition, when you share with them, they experience an incredible outpouring of love. When my eyes look into their eyes, the tears begin to flow. What an awesome opportunity to bless them with clothing, bedding, food and hope!
This school year we are providing 12 children with scholarships. NEXT SCHOOL YEAR THERE ARE 20 CHILDREN WHO WILL NEED SCHOLARSHIPS! The amount needed is approximately $8000.00. Their school year is year-round. They attend school for three months and then off one month. December is the end of their school year.
According to Tanzanian law, there are four young people who have reached the age that will require them to leave Shalom next year. The general plan is that they enter the job market. Our desire is to partner with Joyce, Vaileth, Flora and Nembriss as they each start a small business. It will take $4200.00 to help them get started. Details are available so you can help.
None of this is possible without your prayers and support. Each opportunity is meeting a need. We do not know the course these lives will take but we can help guide them. We can be a model for them. God is working in their lives and we are cheering them on.
Just as the Apostle Paul was cheering the Philippian believers on, we need to cheer each other on to pursue the prize of His high calling. We each have a role and a purpose in God’s plans for this life. You are amazing! Your faithfulness is an overwhelming blessing. Your faithfulness makes it possible for us to press on. THANK YOU!
Tanzania for Jesus!
