June NewsPosted on June 14th, 2012.
Summer begins and there are so many fun things on the calendar. Celebrations to honor graduates, weddings to attend and in between we find time for cooking out, swimming and so much more. We hope you are well and enjoying all or many of these special times.
Meanwhile, the students at the Arusha Bible College are close to finishing the second term of the year. The final term begins September 5 and the senior class will graduate November 10. We hope to house students in the dormitory for this last term.
June is a busy month for us raising funds to complete the dorm, along with raising money necessary for me and William Geter to go to Arusha in July. This trip is critical for the dorm to be completed by September 5th. I may stay longer in order to speed the construction process along. We are getting close to the finish line!
The most urgent need is for William Geter and me to go to Arusha to keep the dormitory project on schedule and completed on or before September 2012.
Summer fares have signifcantly increased due to the high tourist season in Europe.
Air & Ground Costs: $6,000
An exciting avenue is developing for African Moons and the children of Tanzania. Some have heard that we made contact with the organization, Character Counts. Dr. Michael Josephson, the founder, saw a lack of ethical values in the corporate world years ago and developed a curriculum to teach ethics to professionals. In the early 90’s he took his cause and passion further by designing a program called “The Six Pillars of Character” teaching children the values of; trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
In April, we met with Christina Butler at Character Counts Corporate headquarters in Los Angeles. They have given us permission to adapt this curriculum to use in Arusha schools.
God has presented this opportunity. Teaching of these character values to young children will influence them and in turn influence a home, a village, a city and a country. It’s exciting seeing this develop!
Your monthly giving is a blessing to help African Moons operate and to continue towards the goal of helping the people of Tanzania. We thank each of you!!!!
The donations that you give above your monthly support will be designated for this critical trip in July.
Recently we were reminded of the promise God gave to us at the beginning of the year.
“God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and then not fulfill?
I have received a command to bless; He has blessed and I cannot change it.”
Together we can do this. You are making a difference in the lives of so many in Tanzania.
Tanzania for Jesus!
