Since Sally and I accepted the challenge to start African Moons, it has been an amazing journey that has tested our faith to the absolute limits.
When it comes to finishing the dormitory for the Arusha Bible College I can relate to Paul who said:
“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.”
I Corinthians 16:9
Building the dormitory that will house 80 students is truly an amazing opportunity to do something significant for the Kingdom. The students who are cared for in the dormitory and trained in the classrooms will go out into their world and do great exploits for God. It is impossible to count the number of souls that will be saved and the lives that will be enriched through the trained students who graduate from the Arusha Bible College.
Building this dormitory has been nothing short of a miracle. The total budget to complete the building was $200,000.00. We have painstakingly controlled our costs and thank God we are still on budget. Project manager, William Geter, Jr. is putting all his experience and knowledge into getting this project done without going over budget.
Once again, it is nothing short of a miracle after miracle and the generosity of our friends that has resulted in a total of $140,000 that has taken our construction to the point that you can see in this photo.
And it is here that we are facing the adversaries!!
With only $60,000.00 to go, construction has stopped. We have faced challenge after challenge. Our students have seen the work progress and the roof put in place. But now they see that the workers are not there and construction come to a stand still. It is so disappointing.
The students are still sleeping in awful conditions. They don’t complain and are grateful for the teaching and training they are receiving. These are our future leaders who will take the Gospel to the nations.
But until we finish the dormitory, our students are sleeping in overcrowded rooms with leaks, worn out beds, some on the cement floors. Our hearts are heavy because of the conditions our students are living in right now. This is what God has led us to help change.
So we are first asking all of our friends to join us and before you go to sleep each night, would you please take a few minutes and pray for our students at the Arusha Bible College and especially that God would provide the money to finish the dorm.
Our contractor, Sanford Kombe, is the son-in-law of Pastor Wilson Kimaro. Elder Kimaro graduated from the Arusha Bible College over fifty years ago and is revered as an elder statesman of the Tanzanian Assemblies of God. Sanford is a man of God who is dedicated to seeing this project completed. TODAY, we owe our brother, Sanford, $20,000.00 for work that he has done in order to protect the integrity of the construction already completed.
The need facing us right now is an additional $15,000.00 for the fire escape, windows and doors. This must be done quickly in order to close the building and protect the investment we have all made.
As 2012 is coming to an end, we are asking you to make a sacrificial gift to help complete this next stage of construction. Every day that passes can lead to higher pricies and the risk of damage. Please pray and ask God what He wants you to give today. Every gift counts whether it is large or small.
From the depths of our hearts we thank you for whatever God lays on your heart to do for these precious students.
Tanzania for Jesus!
