In the book of Genesis, Abram and Sarai were given a promise. Abram was told his seed would be like the stars. Wondering how this could be, we see in Chapter 16 that they came up with their own plan to fulfill God’s promise. We can see the consequences of that choice today. When God repeated His promise, Sarah laughed. Then in Genesis 21: 2 Sarah gave birth to Issac “at the set time”. It wasn’t according to their schedule but it was “on God’s calendar”.
Sometimes there’s a waiting period between the moment God gives a promise and the fulfillment of it. This “pregnant pause” is intended to birth Faith, but a lot of times it births fear. And then we start to second guess God and try to figure out how to do it ourselves. This waiting period is not meant to cause despair or discouragement. It is meant to grow faith.
Even today, God has spoken to us through Psalm 37; “Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
While being quiet before God, we have heard Him say to us, “Don’t envy, don’t fear, TRUST!”
The goal we set was to finish the dormitory this first quarter. We can set our deadlines but God has the completion date on His calendar. Our assignment is to trust Him, to wait on the Lord. “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5.
We are thrilled to report that $40,000.00 has been raised for the dormitory project! We now have enough to do the plastering phase. We are getting closer to completing the task!
Even this week we meet with Pastor Richard Plunk of Grace Community in Flower Mound, Texas. We are blessed to be scheduled with Pastor Scott Olsen in San Antonio at Trinity Church this coming Sunday, March 9th. We are so grateful for these opportunities. Between now and April we are believing for the additional funds to finish the remaining electrical and plumbing needs.
I will leave for Arusha the first week of April to oversee the work. I will stay for the month of April and perhaps until the students return for the second semester, the first week of May. The airfare is $1700 and ground expenses average $500 per week. If you can give toward these costs, it would really help us “pay as we go”.
There are 91 men and 30 women attending the Arusha Bible College right now. Having the dormitory ready for the students when they return for classes is our greatest desire and prayer.
How can we express our gratitude to you for standing with us? This has been a long journey. Thank you for all your prayers and support.
God has remained faithful. Though it has taken more time than we could have predicted, we know that God is sovereign and He is trustworthy.
Our monthly support in January and February has been down. If you are not giving monthly to African Moons, would you pray about being a monthly partner with us.
We stretch out our arms to hug each of you. Thank you for partnering with us each month. Words do not say it adequately. Our hearts are overwhelmed by your love and support. When you give, you are making it possible “to see the sons of God coming into their own,” all for the glory of God!
Romans 8:18 – 21 From the J. B. Phillips translation:
In my opinion whatever we may have to go through now is less than nothing compared with the magnificent future God has planned for us. The whole creation is on tiptoe to see the wonderful sight of the sons of God coming into their own. The world of creation cannot as yet see reality, not because it chooses to be blind, but because in God’s purpose it has been so limited—yet it has been given hope. And the hope is that in the end the whole of created life will be rescued from the tyranny of change and decay, and have its share in that magnificent liberty which can only belong to the children of God!
God be with you and keep you.
Tanzania for Jesus!
