January Newsletter 2018Posted on January 24th, 2018.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Wow, did this prove true for our young friend at Shalom Center Orphanage, Sipha. When I was at Shalom Center in November, Sipha was still away at Ifunda Girls High School. She is one of seven orphans who is benefitting from an African Moons scholarship. Without our help she would not be able to continue her education. Also, it was Sipha who painted this Maasai batik, which became our Christmas card to you.
On January 2, I received an email from Director Golden Mgonzo informing me that Sipha had a mass in her right breast and it was growing fast. She was operated on December 23rd and came through fine. Praise the Lord, it was a non-cancerous mass! The doctors had to go back in and clean up the wound on January 1. I received a follow-up email letting me know that she had her last checkup and is now back in school! The funds that we have been able to give to Shalom Center made it possible for Sipha to receive the medical help she desperately needed. Thank you partners!
Sipha wrote us this letter.
“My name is Sipha Alphona, studying at Ifunda Girls High School. It is my hope that you are fine. To my side I’m okay and am continuing well with my routine.
The aim of this letter is to tell you about my Holiday. The Holy Day was fine. I enjoyed it though I was sick. I had a breast mass in my right breast which needed an operation to prevent more effects. On 22nd of December I entered the hospital and had the mass removed. Now I’m good and recovering. I am now physically fit and ready for school. I will be back in school on the 14th of January. Thank you so much for your support which makes me feel valuable. May God bless you together with the works of your hands. Christmas Day was fun, we enjoyed a lot together with the first day of the year. I thank God we are all fine and have been selected to enter the new 2018 year.
Holiday is over and I’m about to go back to school. Thank you so much for the school materials and gifts. I’m so glad to get them as they will make me free at school and able to study hard.
Thank you so much for the support you gave us and still giving. God bless you all. It is 2018, may your new year be filled with joy and all kinds of happiness. May it be a successful year and full of achievements. Happy New Year.
Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for each of you. Because of you, we are able to contribute to the Shalom Center and be a part of Sipha’s life. What an incredible investment we have all made in this young lady. Sipha said, “…your support makes me feel valuable.” That just brings tears to my eyes.
Though the Stock Market is going great, it is not eternal. Though 401 K’s are growing, they are not eternal. Souls are eternal. Together we are investing in LIVES. You are laying up treasure where moth or rust or thieves can’t destroy or steal away.
We are expecting a successful 2018, full of achievements. Funds are continuing to be sent to Shalom Center. Planning for another tremendous Christmas in a Box is underway.
For the Arusha Bible College, a 3-story dorm is in the plans. More students are wanting to enroll but there are not enough beds for them, so they wait. What we are asking is that God moves on the hearts of His people and this 2nd Phase of housing gets completed quickly.
Let me also say, we receive requests for help with church buildings, sound equipment, musical instruments, scholarships and educational equipment. We do what we are able to do as God directs us. But it takes our partnership with you and pastors and business leaders.
You are valuable to God’s plans and purposes. We can’t touch a life unless you respond to the needs.
Thank you for making these last 10 years of African Moons a reality. When Sally and I agreed to answer God’s call for Tanzania, we took that first step of faith and announced our decision. Your love and prayers have carried us this far. Now we look forward to see what great things God has for all of us this new year of 2018.
Tanzania for Jesus!
