July News

We have just received word that the container of furnishings for the dormitory has arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It has been off loaded and is now in a warehouse. The next step is clearing this cargo through Customs. The Tanzanian Assemblies of God have taken on this task. They have the documents and are prepared to clear the container through customs.

dar+portFor anyone familiar with clearing customs, you know that there is no precise schedule. Sometimes it takes a day, sometimes a week, sometimes longer. Patience and diplomacy are required. We are glad representatives of how the TAG are handling this procedure.

Our experiences with Customs at airports have generally been good. But once in a while there is a Customs Agent who just wants to see everything. Clearing customs at a seaport can be more complicated; such as, hundreds of containers waiting to be cleared, the documents required to clear the contents, then doing everything to avoid paying duty, finally add in the human dynamics. It can be quite stressful. Please pray for a speedy release without complications.

IMG_1720Meanwhile, as we wait for the container to be cleared, another incredible blessing happened this week! Rex and Gayle, partners of African Moons, asked about sheets for the beds. We told them we were planning on buying them in Arusha. Gayle exclaimed, “Let me work on this.” Gayle challenged our circle of friends here to provide the 88 sets of twin sheets and pillow cases. Funds were given over the last few days and Wednesday evening Gayle and Rex delivered 88 sets to our home! Isn’t that fantastic! What an outpouring of love that will bless the students!

Our emotions swell to know that God has seen fit to allow us to give our lives for our beloved in Tanzania. Our hearts are seared with the fire of God’s love to see the whole country of Tanzania won for Christ.

These students and their classmates will be on the front lines preaching the Gospel. They have committed their lives to Christ and will lead thousands to Christ . Your investment in African Moons and the Arusha Bible College will be multiplied as the students graduate each year and launch their ministries.

We are blessed that you are partners with African Moons. Every life that we have touched is because you have demonstrated love and compassion.

Go into the world. Go everywhere and announce the Message of God’s good news to one and all.
Mark 16:15 The Message

Together we are partners with the Arusha Bible College students, helping prepare them for the Harvest Fields of Africa. This can only happen because of your support and designated gifts. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for you, your prayers and giving.

Tanzania for Jesus!

Joel & Sally

Unexpectedly, two weeks ago, Sally had rotator cuff surgery on her right shoulder. She is doing great with her rehab. This will prohibit her from traveling with me for the furniture installation. However, we expect her to be ready to travel in November for the dedication of the dormitory which will take place the 6th of November! Some of you have expressed a desire to join us for this celebration. We need to hear from you now to send information and approximate costs so you can plan to be with us.
