Mom Bruton used to say when you take an escalator to the next floor, be sure to stop and look down at the floor below. You will see the complete picture of where you have been.
This last month, we’ve taken time to take inventory of the journey of our lives. Someone once said to Mom that if I surrender my will to God, I will miss great adventures.
Adventures? she asked. Following God is the greatest adventure of all! Feisty little Mom – lively, determined and courageous – that is who she was. Living in a small town in Minnesota. She prayed to God, “Lord, I choose to follow your plans. Show me what to do and I’ll go where you tell me to go.” That prayer would lead her through a life journey of unexpected adventures and constant crossroads.
Today we walk in the shadow of her spiritual journey. As we look back through 2021 the year has had its share of disappointments, loss and triumphs. Several dear friends are now celebrating before God’s throne. Though they are missed so very much, we are all equipped with the power of God to march onward into 2022.
So, we think Mom hit the nail on the head. Let’s gear up. Let’s armor up and get ready for more adventures. Our guide has some wonderful things for each of us to see and experience.
We thank you for your faithful support and prayers. We treasure your friendship and look forward to walking together in God’s presence. As Natalie Grant sings, “Your Presence is our greatest weapon!”
Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

“To provide for those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”
Isaiah 6:23 NIV
Blessings throughout a New Year!
